Youth Kung Fu  will have three parts:

  • Physical Techniques: The stances, punches, and kicks of Kungfu will be our focus that helps us explore flexibility, balance, and body mechanics. We will use traditional training routines and patterns of movement as well as games and other challenges to make our bodies stronger and have fun. The coordination of different body parts also contributes to brain connections and growth. 
  • Martial Arts Etiquette: Martial arts is a practice that requires communication and discipline. We only grow as much as we push ourselves and allow others to push us. How we treat our teachers and training partners completely changes how we experience this art, so we will focus on learning to treat each other well and with sincerity. 
  • Conflict Resolution: Martial arts should be understood as the whole art of conflict, not just how to physically protect yourself if a conflict goes badly. As such, we will practice and discuss conflict in all the forms we encounter it, and learn to deal with it using our voices and minds, and avoid using our fists.

Age groups: 10-13 y.o. and 13-15 y.o.

TAI CHI (TAIJI QUAN)

Total Duration 3 years

Tai Chi is a slow moving style of Chinese martial arts that has undebatable impacts on physical and psychological health. Its the only instance in human history where a martial art has spread across the world for its preventative and healing benefits. From musculoskeletal health all the way to PTSD, Tai Chi has been shown to be beneficial.  

Who it’s for: No real age restrictions, but it tends to be more understandable for older people. Also recommended for those under stress and with difficulties in finding physical and emotional relaxation. 

Content

1st year– Tai Chi Stepping, Tai Chi kicks, standing meditation, Wudang Tai Chi 28 posture form. 

2nd year– standing meditation, qi gong, Wudang Tai Chi 108 posture form, beginning push hands. 

3rd year– qi gong, standing meditation, Tai Chi Sword, push hands.

WUDANG WUSHU:

Total duration 3 years.

Martial Arts is a way of power. Not only power to oppose something, but also to flow with. It is a way of growing rational thinking, calmness, and confidence, of growing spirit and will power, of finding the ground under your legs. And its super cool!

Aside from that, practicing martial arts is one of the most effective and least boring ways of improving your body condition, functional muscle mass, and stamina.

Wudang Wushu is a style of Chinese Martial arts. It is not very famous in the West, but in China the Taoist Wudang Mountains count as one of the three main centers of martial arts, and to some even the motherland of Tai Chi Chuan. 

The goal of the Wudang Wushu class is to teach basic martial arts coordination and develop a foundation for fighting. It consists of multi-functional physical development and strengthening the musculo-skeletal system. 

Who it’s for: For everyone who wants to delve deeper in to Chinese Martial Arts, and for those who just want to make the body and spirit stronger. The exercises program of this class is quite intense, so I don’t reccomend it for anyone with cardiovascular disease. 

Content

1st year- basic stances, basic and advanced kicks, basic punches. Tao Lu (forms): Ji Ben Quan (basic form).

2nd year- kicks, fighting combinations of 3-4 elements (kicks and punches), Tao Lu: Xuang Gong Quan 1, Xuan Zhen Quan (empty hand forms).

3rd year – kicks, fighting combinations, Tao Lu with weapon- Xuan Men Jian (straight sword), Wudang Shanji (fan), and Ba Xian Gun (staff). 

Partner work starts in the 2nd or 3rd year as a separate for those who desire it.

 

What you will learn

  • Results: With regular practice for 3 years, one can expect to have:

    • great physical condition 
    • agility and lightness, enhanced body control
    • increased immunity and resistance to aches and pains
    •  a more lean, sporty physical appearance
    •  general well-being, confidence, and resistance to stress 

    You wont be able to break any bricks. But I can promise you the joy of feeling your body strong, healthy and smart. Practice will also change your sense and relationship to your body. To me this is the most important thing that one could achieve.

BASIC TRAINING:

Total Duration: 3-6 months, depending on starting level. 

Basic training is designed to improve the general physical condition of the body: stamina, cardiovascular function, muscular strength, and flexibility. This is all preparation for the more technical exercises in Wudang Wushu and Tai Chi. It is the first stage for preparing mind and body to practice kung fu.

Who its for:   Required for anyone who wants to take Wudang Wushu class. Recommended for healthy individuals up to age 35 (female) and 45 (male) who want to do Tai Chi. Good for anyone who wants to improve their general body condition or health. 

Content: Interval training, stretching, resistance training, jumps, joint mobility training (mostly hips and shoulders), 5 basic kung fu stances an kicks. 

 

What you will learn

  • Expected results: Improvement of general physical condition, adaptation to regular training. Best results with 2-3 classes a week.
