Course curriculum
Students will gain the confidence and ability to express their individual perspectives through poetry. Groups will work on vocabulary and writing skills, rhyme schemes (ABAB, AABB), rhyme structure, free verse and more. Throughout the course, different forms and structures in poetry will be practiced including haiku, sonnets, free and blank verse. The ability to openly express themselves will foster the written voices of students and advance different skills sets (critical thinking, writing, reading).

By the end of the course, students will be able to have a better understanding of how to analyze and write poetry. Portfolios will be completed and include work that can be worked on, referred back to, and to be proud of.
