I was born on January 11, 1981, in Port-Au-Prince Haiti. As a child I always had a deep appreciation for art. I took every opportunity to visit museums. When I arrived in New York City at the age of 10, I discovered my favorite museum - The Metropolitan Museum of Art. It is colossal in size, and what I like most is the representation of works of art from every corner of the globe.
As I developed as a student I realized my interest and talent in graphic design. Graphic Design is "the art or skill of combining text and pictures in advertisements, magazines, or books." Graphic Design is the process that links art and technology together to communicate ideas. Graphic design excites me because it takes me to a world all of my own where no one else can go. Every graphic designer is unique in their own way and style.
"When I'm drawing I feel like I'm on my own planet."
I'm currently studying at Kingsborough Community College. I have been learning art, theory, and technical skills, and I have been fortunate to be able to apply these skills as I have had the opportunity to work for the College's Financial Aid Office, where I have designed flyers and brochures for the college. I have gained much experience and learned many skills such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and Microsoft Office. I have been awarded the Service Learning Certificate of Appreciation and Service Learning Recognition Award. Additionally, I have created advertisements for the Canarsie Learning Center Day Care Program.
