Her professional dance company, Katharine Pettit Creative – KPC, spotlights social injustices using dance as our universal language, changing minds by opening hearts through movement. Founded in 2016, KPC’s resume and history span many dance festivals across the five boroughs, traveling to upstate NY as ambassador to the NY State Recovery Conference, and touring to the Detroit Dance City Festival with our Black Lives Matter piece.
We work with rehabilitation and recovery centers to offer alternative therapy for substance use disorder using movement as a pathway to wellness.
ABOUT MY COURSES
Katharine teaches all ages, from 6 years old to 96 years old and everyone in between.
She specializes in Jazz, Modern, Tap and Musical Theatre dance with over 20 years of experience in NYC, St. Louis, MO and regional theatres and studios in the Tri-State area.
Katharine’s teaching style is all student-driven. Every class starts with the basics, honing technique, then moving across-the-floor to build more advanced rhythms which will require endurance and strength. Every student will receive one-on-one corrections and advice to push to the level of their desire! We’ll wrap up with a combination that utilizes and expands on what we worked on in class that day. Everyone can dance!
